Leeuwenhoek had stolen and peeped into the fantastic sub-visible world of little things, creatures that had lived, had bred, had battled, had died, completely hidden from and unknown to all men from the beginning of time. Beasts these were of a kind that ravaged and annihilated whole races of men ten million times larger than they were themselves. Beings these were, more terrible than fire-spitting dragons or hydra-headed monsters. They were silent assassins that murdered babies in warm cradles and kings in sheltered places. It was this invisible, insignificant, but implacable-and sometimes friendly- world Leeuwenhoek had looked into for the first time of all men of all countries. ~Microbe Hunters

Superb*wl Sunday

The weirdest thing in the world, to me, is the fact that right now, 50 billion people are eating crap food, chiming "OHHHH" every 2 minutes and joyously cheering when boys in tights carry their balls to the other end of a field. Explain football to a bunch of aliens, and that would secure our planet from being taken over...no one wants to be around that. 99% of the people watching this game right now have no idea what is going on on the screen, but they do know that Uncle Jimmy or their friend Fred should start balancing all the beer they drank with some more chicken wings and potato wedges. It is rare to find a Canadian that actually follows football. Most don't watch it any other day of the year, and will be complaining tomorrow about what they ate today and wont be able to get up for work in the morning.

I am not giving in to this social convention of turning on my TV to watch this game. I am one of those people who do not understand football in the slightest.

Apparently my roommate, Jillian doesn't share this view of lunatics tuning in to watch leotards and over-anticipated commercials, and she would probably be offended that I grouped her with the 'lunatics'. However, she is sitting on the couch watching football and painting her nails. Really, all she is doing is painting her nails and contributing to the rating people will "ooo and aahh" at tomorrow.

I wont be surprised, though. Mostly because I don't care.

This is what I'm doing...
Goodnight Superb*wl Sunday!!

Darn good and sure of it,

adot
